Sisters complete 250km Challenge in time for Christmas
On Christmas Eve 2022 sisters Izzy and Amber completed the final leg of their incredible 250km challenge.
The girls (with help from mum Louise) launched their own JustGiving Page to spread awareness about vitiligo and the challenge they had set themselves:
We are going to run, walk or ride 250km between July and December. We have managed to walk or run half the distance over the summer holidays but now have to try and find time to fit the rest in at weekends this term. Hopefully some cross country runs at school will help reach our target!
Fitting in extra walks, cycles and runs when they could, the girls were determined to complete the challenge. Zac, their brother, had been diagnosed with vitiligo and they wanted to do their bit to support the vitiligo community he was now a part of
The Vitiligo Society is a small charity but they do amazing work helping people like Zac with support and research.
Thanks to friends and family pledging donations, the girls exceed their target – reaching a fundraising total of £1060!
Vitiligo affects 1% – 2% of the world’s population and currently, there is no cure. The Vitiligo Society’s mission is to beat vitiligo by eradicating the psychological, social and physical effects of the condition on people’s lives, and by finding effective treatments and a cure.
As a charity, the Society is completely funded by the donors, members and fundraisers who contribute to the work they do. Our Society wouldn’t be where it is today without the support and generosity of young people like Izzy, and Amber.
Are you looking for a fitness goal this year, or simply to raise awareness of vitiligo amongst your friends, family and work colleagues?
