Sunshine, Smiles & Swinging Bats: Hel’s Belles Charity Rounders Hits a Home Run for The Vitiligo Society

On a sunny Bank Holiday Monday (21st April 2025), Locks Ride Recreation Ground in Winkfield came alive with laughter, competition, and community spirit as Helen from Hel’s Belles Fitness group hosted a charity rounders match in aid of The Vitiligo Society.

Helen, a passionate local fitness trainer known for creating inclusive, welcoming sessions, organises a charity match every Bank Holiday — each one supporting a different cause close to the hearts of her clients. This time, we were delighted to learn that she chose The Vitiligo Society.

Helen learnt about our charity’s work from client Denise, who’s son Timothy was diagnosed with vitiligo at an early age. Denise and Helen wanted to raise both awareness and funds for a charity that supports those with vitiligo, and helps build confidence in young people and families.

The pitch saw a spirited mix of Helen’s clients and their families forming teams and diving into the fun. The victorious team, proudly named “The A Team,” included Timothy and his mum Denise — who, despite being a rounders newbie, blended a bit of American baseball flair into the classic British game!

The star of the day was Sarah, the team’s secret weapon, who racked up most of the runs with her unstoppable energy. Meanwhile, adding to the day’s laughter, Helen’s own sons (after a few cheeky tries) finally managed to catch their fitness-instructor mum out — much to their delight!

The event raised £100, all going towards the Vitiligo Society’s upcoming Family Day, and everyone was thrilled to be making a difference while enjoying a light-hearted, competitive morning.

When asked what advice they have for other fundraisers, Denise smiled and said:

‘Just go for it! Keep it simple and fun, get your community involved, and pick a cause that means something to you.

A perfect blend of sunshine, sport, and social good — this rounders match was a home run in every way.
