Is your vitiligo feeling itchy? Share your experience
Our friends at The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) are currently looking for patient stories of people who have had major sleep disruption due to chronic itch and we are hoping you can help. This will be to support media work they are doing to highlight how chronic itch contributes to fatigue – part of ongoing work to ensure that itch as a symptom is taken more seriously.
The media plays a key role in raising awareness of skin disease. BAD believe that getting personal experiences in front of the general public can:
- Warn people about how to avoid certain diseases – for example, sun safety messages can help prevent skin cancer.
- Help to break down social stigmas that surround skin disease by challenging myths – for example, that skin disease is linked to hygiene.
- Make people feel less alone by showing them that others are going through the same struggles.
- Provide advice on where to go for help and provide guidance on treatments.
If you have a skin condition and you want to share your story with the media and in BAD communications (including our website and/or social media channels), they would love to hear from you. Your story could appear in a newspaper, magazine, on the TV or radio and could help others who have the same disease as you.
We will guide you through the process and will make sure you are happy with the type of media we have in mind before organising any opportunities.
If this sounds of interest, we would love to hear from you. You can apply by filling the consent form available which you can download from their website.
The deadline for this opportunity is the 7th May 2024.
