Linzi’s Marathon Mission for Vitiligo Awareness
At The Vitiligo Society, we are continuously inspired by the dedication and passion of our community — and today, we want to shine a light on someone truly special: Linzi Beedles.
Linzi is not only a devoted mum, but also a fierce advocate for her 8 year old daughter, Mali, who was diagnosed with vitiligo just 2 years ago. Since then, Mali’s condition has progressed, with white patches now covering much of her body, including parts of her eyelashes. While vitiligo is not life-threatening, it is life-altering — especially for children navigating the world with visible differences.

Determined to turn challenge into action, Linzi has signed up to run the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2025, as well as the Bristol Half Marathon — all to raise vital funds for The Vitiligo Society and to support ongoing research into this complex and often misunderstood condition. Linzi shared with us some insight into how life has changed since Mali’s diagnosis:
Mali has been travelling to Telford Hospital twice a week for almost a year for phototherapy treatment. There’s no cure yet — but I’m running to help change that. I want people to know what vitiligo is, because most people don’t — we didn’t, until Mali was diagnosed.

Linzi is already making a difference in her local community in Powys — whether she’s out running in her Vitiligo Society vest (thank you for proudly wearing us on your journey!), raising awareness through conversation, or coming up with creative fundraisers like “Guess the Dog’s Name,” which will add another £100 to her fundraising total.
Her JustGiving page is live and growing, and every donation — no matter how big or small — brings us closer to greater awareness, better treatments, and ultimately, a cure:
Please join us in cheering Linzi on, sharing her story, and donating if you can. Together, we can make a real difference for Mali and the millions of others living with vitiligo around the world.
