Testing a psychological intervention for skin conditions – volunteers required

Posted on 19th November 2024  2 minute read

Colleagues from Royal Holloway, University of London, in collaboration with Professor Andrew Thompson from Cardiff University, have developed a digital, self-guided psychological intervention designed to support individuals with skin conditions. They are now seeking participants to test the prototype of a personalised version of this intervention.

What is the research about?

Researchers are testing the acceptability and feasibility of a personalised psychological intervention for people with skin conditions. Participants will hopefully benefit from learning strategies and skills to help manage their responses to their skin condition while also contributing to the evidence base on personalised interventions.

What would participants be doing?

The study has received ethics approval and consists of 5 weeks of self-guided online sessions, which participants can complete at their own pace and convenience.

Who can participate in this research?

Participants will be screened to confirm eligibility before enrolment and should meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 18+
  • Based in the UK
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Have consistent access to an internet-connected device
  • Be experiencing distress related to their skin condition.

How can I take part?

We’ve created a landing page where participants can sign up directly by following the “Join Us Today” link at the top: https://lwsc.psychologyresearch.co.uk/ or email lwsc.psychologyresearch.co.uk for more information.
