Our vitiligo support groups UK‑wide offer safe, welcoming spaces for people living with vitiligo to connect, share experiences and feel understood. Run by The Vitiligo Society, the UK’s leading vitiligo charity, our support groups provide trusted peer support rooted in lived experience.

Living with vitiligo can feel isolating. For many people, it affects confidence, mental wellbeing and everyday life. Because of this, our support groups exist to ensure that no one has to navigate vitiligo alone.

Across the UK, we offer several ways for people to access vitiligo support, depending on what feels most comfortable for them.

Vitiligo Support Groups in the UK

Our vitiligo support groups in the UK are led and supported by a friendly team of volunteers. All of our volunteers have personal experience of how vitiligo can affect daily life.

Although our services do not replace medical advice, we are here to listen, offer reassurance and signpost people to accurate, trusted information about vitiligo. As a UK charity, we focus on creating spaces that feel safe, inclusive and supportive.

Currently, our vitiligo support groups UK‑wide include:

  • moderated Facebook support forums
  • a monthly online vitiligo support group
  • in‑person Vitiligo Society gatherings across the UK

Each option offers a different type of support, allowing people to choose what works best for them.

Facebook Support Forums

We believe in the power of community. As a result, our Vitiligo Society Facebook forums provide safe, moderated spaces where people living with vitiligo can connect with others across the UK.

These forums allow members to:

  • share personal experiences
  • ask questions in a supportive environment
  • learn from others living with vitiligo
  • feel less alone

Our volunteers actively moderate the forums to protect members from misinformation, unhelpful advice and abuse. This ensures the space remains respectful, supportive and reliable.

VitSupport: Online Support Group

VitSupport is our monthly online vitiligo support group, designed for people who want to speak directly with others living with the condition.

Each session is hosted by trained volunteers who have vitiligo themselves. While many now feel confident in their skin, they also understand what it feels like to struggle with confidence, self‑worth and finding effective support.

During these sessions, people can:

  • talk openly about living with vitiligo
  • listen to shared experiences
  • feel seen and understood
  • build confidence through connection

These virtual vitiligo support groups UK‑wide show participants that they are not alone and that support is available.

Vitiligo Society Gatherings

As part of our commitment to connection and inclusion, we are launching a growing programme of in‑person events across the UK.

Vitiligo Society Gatherings create welcoming spaces where people can meet others with shared experiences, build confidence and feel supported in real‑world settings.

These gatherings include:

  • awareness walks
  • informal community meetups
  • workshops and small group events

Each event helps increase visibility, reduce isolation and strengthen community connection. For many people, attending a gathering can be a powerful and affirming experience.

Start your own local vitiligo support group

We know that local, in‑person support can make a significant difference. Because of this, we are currently piloting guidance to help people start their own local vitiligo support groups in different areas of the UK.

This pilot programme is designed to support individuals who would like to bring others together locally, while ensuring any groups are safe, inclusive and aligned with the values of The Vitiligo Society.

If you are interested in starting a local vitiligo support group in your area, or would like more information about this guidance, we would love to hear from you.

Which group is right for you?

Everyone’s experience of vitiligo is different. Some people prefer online connection, while others value face‑to‑face support. For this reason, our vitiligo support groups UK‑wide offer multiple ways to get involved.

You are welcome to try one option or combine several. There is no expectation to share if you do not feel ready.

Why choose us for support

The Vitiligo Society has supported people affected by vitiligo in the UK since 1985. As a charity led by lived experience, we understand that support must feel safe, trustworthy and compassionate.

Unlike informal or unmoderated online spaces, our vitiligo support groups UK‑wide are carefully supported, responsibly moderated and shaped by the needs of the community.
