Awareness Campaigns
Since 1985, The Vitiligo Society has been the UK’s leading charity supporting people living with vitiligo. We work to combat the physical, psychological and social impact of vitiligo through advocacy, research, awareness and support. Guided by lived experience and evidence‑led insight, our mission and strategy focus on improving medical care, strengthening mental health support and driving social change, so that everyone affected by vitiligo feels informed, supported and empowered.
Let’s Talk Vitiligo
Let’s Talk Vitiligo was created to raise awareness of the real impact vitiligo can have on people’s lives, bringing research findings to life through the voices of those with lived experience. The film features people from our community speaking openly about diagnosis, confidence, mental health and feeling heard. It continues to be used as a tool to help people start conversations about vitiligo, explain their experiences to others and highlight the need for better understanding and support.
More Than Meets the Eye
More Than Meets the Eye focuses on challenging assumptions and highlighting that vitiligo is not ‘just a cosmetic difference’. Through powerful cinematic visuals, the film highlights the different ways in which vitiligo is experienced. Although developed as a campaign, the video remains an important part of our representation work and can be used to help others better understand vitiligo and the experiences of those affected.
Ambassadors of the Society
Our ambassadors are volunteers who share their lived experience of vitiligo to help others feel less alone. By speaking openly about their journeys, they hope to inspire confidence, understanding and more honest conversations about vitiligo. Many of our ambassadors also use their own platforms to raise awareness, challenge stigma and, where appropriate, speak to the media on behalf of The Vitiligo Society to help ensure vitiligo stories are seen and heard.
